Born in Nice in 1946, It's in 1973 that Jean Mas was rooted in the artistic movement of Nice. He is recognized with the production of a characteristic object : The flies Cages. The 'Flies Cage', essential vehicle for the expression of Jean Mas, is seen as a personal mythology in the context of an Art of Attitude. By the various facets of his work, the artist seems somehow like summarizing the spirit of the School of Nice. In an exchange of correspondence in 1993, Pierre Restany addresses to Jean Mas in these terms : " you synthesize the spirit of the School of Nice ..." . In 30 years, the artistic production of Jean MAS has branched structured around four main areas: plastic, theatrical, literary and cinematic.
